Roskill @ IM’20

The 20th Industrial Minerals International Congress and Exhibition, organised by Metal Bulletin Events, was held in Miami, FL, USA at the end of March 2010.  Roskill had a booth at the exhibition where the 350 delegates in attendance had the opportunity to learn more about the reports and consultancy services that Roskill offers.  In addition, Roskill’s Managing Director Judith Chegwidden and Industrial Minerals Divisional Manager Robert Baylis gave papers on the rare earths and boron markets respectively.  Judith’s paper – Rare Earths: A golden future, or over-hyped” – gave delegates a flavour of the dynamics of the rare earths market including the complexities of mining and processing, the current supply situation and China’s mining and export quota system, current and future demand and a summary of new projects with potential to come to the market.  Robert’s paper – “The Chinese boron market and the role of western suppliers” – described China’s reserves and its global position in the boron supply chain, the growing production of boron-containing products such as glass and ceramics in China, and how western suppliers are benefiting from this growth.
